Volunteering for the Philadelphia Reading Olympics
Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart. ~Elizabeth Andrew
If you’ve ever watched Alex Trebek and thought, “Hey, I can do that!” then here is your chance. We are inviting you to volunteer as a moderator or scorekeeper at the 2014 Philadelphia Reading Olympics. The competitions are held at Philadelphia colleges and universities during the month of May.
Each volunteer will attend a training session at the site at 8:30 am the morning of the event. Refreshments will be provided. You will be required to stay through the three rounds of competition which usually last until 11:30 am. There is an award ceremony immediately following the competition that concludes by 12:30 pm that you are invited to attend.
As a volunteer you will either ask the questions (don’t worry, the answers are provided) or keep score. We guarantee that you’ll have fun as you help to make this rewarding activity a success.
Please go to the registration form for the complete volunteer schedule, dates and sites. One to two weeks prior to the event you will receive information specific to your site (parking, building location, etc.)
These events run on the power of volunteers! Please honor your commitment to volunteer. If any changes occur in your schedule that prevent you from volunteering on the date you registered, please email Philadelphia Reads, Readingolympics@philareads.org, or call 215-279-7450.
